Reporting a wrong result

The most useful report tells us what the page showed, what you expected, and where. Tap Copy share link after the lookup and paste it into your email: it contains the exact coordinates, so we can see the same result you did. Please also say whether you used Find me or typed an address, and which browser and device you were on.

Many wrong results come from one of three places, and it helps to check them first:

• Your device's position. If the Accuracy row shows more than a few hundred metres, the page was given a rough position. Our guide to why your location is wrong covers the fixes.
• The map data. Addresses, city names and postcodes come from OpenStreetMap. If a house number or road is missing there, anyone can add it at openstreetmap.org/fixthemap, and the fix reaches this site once OpenStreetMap updates.
• Postal versus legal names. A city or county that differs from your mail is often correct. See why your address says a different city.

Embedding and permissions

You are welcome to embed the tool on your own site using the code on the embed page, with no need to ask. If you run into trouble, such as the Find me button not working inside your page, email us the page address. It is usually the iframe's allow="geolocation" attribute being removed by the site builder.

What we cannot help with

We cannot find another person's location, look up who owns a property, or recover a location you looked up earlier, because we never receive or store any of it. In an emergency, call your local emergency number, 911 in the United States.
